Terms & Conditions
To ensure a positive experience for everyone and to protect both you and Bowel Cancer New Zealand (BCNZ), these fundraising terms and conditions must be followed.
- Fundraising Costs
You are responsible for all costs related to your fundraising activity. BCNZ cannot reimburse once funds are received or pay event expenses.
- Insurance, Approvals and Permits
If Public Liability Insurance or any permits/approvals are required for your event, these must be organised and covered by you. BCNZ’s Public Liability Insurance does not cover supporter-led events.
- BCNZ Support
We’re here to guide and support you - please feel free to contact us anytime at fundraising@bowelcancernz.org.nz. If you’d like to request a BCNZ representative to attend your event, you can also email us at that address. While we’d love to be at every event, as a small team we may not always be able to attend in person.
- BCNZ Equipment and Materials
If you would like to request use of BCNZ banners/flags/equipment, please email us at fundraising@bowelcancernz.org.nz. Any BCNZ banners, flags, or collateral remain your responsibility. Lost or damaged items may need to be replaced at your cost.
- Banking Funds Raised
Funds raised offline (i.e., not through an online fundraising page) must be deposited within two weeks of your event or fundraising activity completion. If you anticipate any delays, please notify BCNZ promptly so we can agree on a suitable payment timeline.
- Event Expenses
We expect fundraising expenses to be reasonable and proportionate to your activity. To maximise support for people living with bowel cancer, we encourage keeping costs below 40% of the total funds raised. Fundraisers should carefully monitor and manage expenses to ensure the greatest possible amount is directed to BCNZ’s mission.
- Responsible Fundraising
Fundraisers must conduct their activities ethically, respectfully, and in accordance with BCNZ’s values. Aggressive, misleading, or inappropriate fundraising tactics are not permitted. Please note that door-to-door, telephone and street fundraising are also not permitted.
- Use of Funds
All funds raised must be directed to BCNZ and used solely to support our mission. Funds cannot be used for personal benefit or unrelated activities.
- Promotion and Branding
All fundraising activities must be clearly promoted as “Proudly Supporting Bowel Cancer New Zealand” and must not be presented as official BCNZ events. Any use of BCNZ logos or branded materials requires prior written approval. Please email all promotional collateral to virginia@bowelcancernz.org.nz for approval before distribution.
- Privacy and Data Protection
Any personal data collected during your fundraising, including donor details, must comply with privacy laws. For online fundraising pages, data management adheres to BCNZ’s policies.
- Receipting Donors
BCNZ cannot issue tax receipts for donors who give through your offline fundraising activities. To receive an official receipt, donors are encouraged to donate directly via your BCNZ online fundraising page, where receipts are issued automatically.
- Media and Publicity
If you plan media coverage or public announcements relating to your fundraising, please consult BCNZ beforehand to ensure messaging is accurate and consistent.
- Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Bowel Cancer New Zealand, its employees, and representatives against any claims, losses, or damages arising from your fundraising activities.
- Agreement
By setting up and using a Bowel Cancer NZ fundraising page, you agree to adhere to all the above guidelines. You understand that if these guidelines are not met, your fundraising page may be deleted, and Bowel Cancer New Zealand may choose to no longer support your fundraising.
If you have any questions about these terms and conditions, please contact Fundraising Executive Virginia Reason at virginia.reason@bowelcancernz.org.nz.
